A boutique management consulting firm. In 1986 joined as Research Analyst writing extensive (200 - 300 page) industry studies. Research activity included focus groups, mail surveys, one-on-one interviews, and online database access. Analytical work involved developing spreadsheet models of market variables pertinent to forecasting industry sales and production. In 1987 appointed General Manager / Senior Analyst responsible for operations and research staffs, office facilities design, financial oversight of firm, and computer system design and acquisition. In 1988 appointed Vice President - General Manager and admitted to HM partnership. Added responsibilities included strategic/product planning for HM, new business development, and client relationship management.

A venerable land-trust organization active in forest management and education as well as land preservation efforts throughout New England. Developed a computer model to test the efficiencies of converting traditional commercial and industrial energy plants to wood fuel. Public presentations on alternative energy practices and wood heat safety. Delivered educational workshops on forest biology.

Developed and delivered public information forums for the resurgent use of wood as a primary heating fuel. Work included extensive public speaking, development of a statewide resource directory, conference organization and guest teaching at New England College. Contracted to work at U.S. Department of Energy, Fossil Fuels Division in Washington D.C., to assist in the preparation of testimony for Congressional hearings on then-current domestic coal shortage.
